Why granite

Natural stone, no two alike.

Granite is quarried, not made, so every slab is one of a kind. You get depth, grain, and movement that an engineered surface cannot copy. On a big island or a long run, that variation is the whole point. People walk in and the counter is the first thing they look at.

Picking granite is hands-on. Because each slab differs, we want you to see the actual stone, not a two-inch sample. We carry a range in stock, browsable on our slab catalog, and we bring samples to the consult so you can hold the color against your cabinets and floor. When you settle on a slab, we lay it out and cut so the best of the grain lands where you see it most.

Granite installation is the same careful process we run on every job. We template your cabinets, fabricate the pieces, polish the edge profile you choose, cut the sink opening, drill the faucet holes, and set it. Seams get planned to fall behind a faucet or at a cabinet break, then color-matched so they disappear into the grain. Granite is heavy, so a solid, level cabinet base matters. We check that before anything goes down.

Granite does ask for a little upkeep, and it is genuinely little. We seal it on install and you re-seal it once a year with a wipe-on sealer we leave with you. That keeps it shrugging off spills. Day to day it is soap and water like anything else. Sealed granite handles heat, knives, and a busy kitchen without complaint, which is why it is still a favourite for people who actually cook.

Our written quote includes template, fabrication, the edge profile, sink cut-out, faucet holes, delivery, install, and removal of the old top. The number you sign is the number you pay unless you change the scope, and travel is built in rather than added later. Fabrication carries a 10-year warranty.

If you like natural stone but want less upkeep, ask about quartzite at the consult. It is a natural stone like granite, so you still get one-of-a-kind movement, but it is harder and denser than most granite. We stock granite, quartzite, and quartz side by side, so you can compare all three against your cabinets in one visit. The consult is free, it happens in your kitchen, and you get the written quote the same day with no deposit to book it. Bring your tile or a cabinet door if you have one and we will hold the slabs right up against it.

We install granite countertops in Winnipeg and out to Selkirk, Steinbach, Stonewall, Headingley, Niverville, Oakbank, Lorette, Winkler, Morden, and Portage la Prairie. From template to installed top is about two weeks once your cabinets are in. Call (431) 998-6151 or start a quote online and we will set a time to come measure.

FAQ

Common questions.

How much do granite countertops cost in Winnipeg?

It depends on the slab and the size. Because granite is natural, exotic colors cost more than common ones. After we measure, you get a written quote covering template, fabrication, edge, sink cut-out, faucet holes, delivery, install, and removal of the old top. No surprise line items.

Does granite need sealing?

Yes, but it is easy. We seal it on install, and you re-seal once a year with a wipe-on sealer we leave with you. That keeps it from absorbing spills. Otherwise it is soap and water like any other counter.

Granite or quartz, which should I pick?

Granite if you want natural movement and a one-of-a-kind slab, and you do not mind sealing once a year. Quartz if you want zero maintenance and a consistent, repeatable look. Both are durable. We will show you samples of each at the consult.

Can I see the actual slab before you cut it?

Yes, and you should. Every granite slab is different, so we want you choosing the real stone, not a small sample. We bring samples to the consult and lay out your slab so the best of the grain lands where you see it.

How long does granite installation take?

About two weeks from template to install. Once your cabinets are in and we have templated, we are typically installing inside seven business days.

Do you install granite outside Winnipeg?

Yes. We regularly install in Selkirk, Steinbach, Stonewall, Headingley, Niverville, Oakbank, Lorette, Winkler, Morden, and Portage la Prairie. Travel is built into the quote, never added later.
